In this gallery (and the Yellowstone Abstracts gallery) the interesting aspect about some of these images is that they have a fractal quality about them which, unless you knew the context a priori, could be a challenge to determine the spatial extent and scale of each image. Some, for example, have the appearance of the mouths of rivers (e.g., deltas, alluvial fans) as viewed from space. Alternatively, they could also be microscopic images of bundles of neurons.
