Photos:

- #1 and #2 Mature Green Heron (likely one one of the parents of the 4 juveniles)
- All other photos: portrait shots of the four juveniles

Four siblings about 4-5 weeks old. Oldest is about one week older than the youngest.

Some of the photos clearly show that the older siblings have all but lost their fuzzy feathers and are developing the characteristic blue-green hue in their flight feathers.

The photo of the Green Heron with a fish in its mouth is likely the oldest of the four.

The fledglings are now exploring the environs in and around their nest. They are often seen hopping to neighboring tree branches and flying short distances but generally staying within 40-50 feet of the nest.

The parents still come by to feed them several times each day. But some of the fledglings are beginning to hone their hunting skills trying to catch dragonfly "snacks".

Green herons are also known for making and using tools. They have been observed dropping small twigs, leaves and feathers in the water to lure fish.
