A Red-shouldered hawk suddenly flew in at the base of the dam and perched atop a large boulder adjacent to the stream.
Something, possibly potential prey, piqued its interest across the stream, so it launched itself off the boulder to get a closer look.
After briefly studying the vegetation and rocks, it apparently decided there was nothing of interest after all, and it just as suddenly flew off to parts unknown.
