Guanella Pass
Georgetown, CO
September 8, 2022
Guanella Pass is a high mountain pass in the Colorado Rockies between Georgetown and Grant. It is a two lane paved road (US Hwy 285) 22 miles long.
The parking area at the peak pass elevation (11,670') provides dramatic views of the rugged and steep-sloped Mt. Bierstadt (14,060') and the alpine tundra.
A challenge for hikers, the aptly named "Sawtooth" ridge on Mt. Bierstadt is clearly visible in some of these photos. To the right of The Sawtooth is the (rounded) peak of Mt. Bierstadt.
